New York City doctor Zoe Hart inherits half of a medical practice in the tiny town of Bluebell, Alabama, where she finds that the town  isn’t so friendly under the surface.  Her new medical partner, Brick Breeland, hates sharing his practice with her, and his daughter, Lemon, takes an immediate dislike to Zoe.  But as time passes, Zoe finds allies in lawyer George Tucker, former NFL football hero Lavon Hayes, and resident bad-boy Wade Kinsella.  Zoe also discovers that actually practicing medicine with patients instead of just studying it brings her a lot of professional satisfaction.

Hart of Dixie features mild sexual innuendos about characters’ relationships.  One of Zoe’s patients is pregnant, and tells how her boyfriend refused to use a condom the one time she slept with him.  Language is infrequent but has included “ass,” “son of a bitch,” “damn,” “slut,” “douche,” “hell,” and “dick.”  Violence in the series is limited to very brief medical scenes that involve minimal amounts of blood.

Hart of Dixie is not recommended for viewers under age 13.
