Fifteen years after a mysterious event called “the Blackout,” in which all electrical power and technology ceased functioning, the world is back to pre-industrial society. Ben Matheson knew the reasons behind “the Blackout,” but was murdered and his son Danny abducted by Captain Tom Neville and his militia under orders from General Monroe. Before his death, Ben passed along a vital clue to his friend Aaron, a former computer programmer. Ben’s adventurous daughter Charlie, Aaron, and Maggie, Ben’s girlfriend are joined by militia spy, Nate. They set out to find Miles, Ben’s estranged brother who is also wanted by General Monroe, who can help rescue Danny from captivity. It’s discovered that not only did Miles and Monroe served together in the U.S. Marine Corps in pre-Blackout times, but that Charlie, and Danny’s mother Rachel (who was said to have died) is alive. Together, they seek to find Danny, solve the riddle of the Blackout…and revive civilization.
The focus of Revolution is violence. The first three episodes contained a fair amount of action-movie style violence, with characters using fists, bows, swords, and occasional guns to do battle. Little blood is seen. Language in the first three episodes included uses of “dick”, “son of a bitch,” and “ass.” Sexual content on the series is rare but has included innuendo such as Miles’ ex-girlfriend remarking, “Can you boil everything down to getting laid?”
Revolution is not recommended for viewers under age 14.
