PTC Applauds Video Game Bill Requiring Increased Accountability for Adult Game Sales

 

The Parents Television Council praised the leadership of Congressman Jim Matheson (D-UT) and Congressman Lee Terry (R-NE) and their commitment to increased retailer accountability for adult video game sales. At a news conference today, the Congressmen unveiled a bipartisan bill that would require retailers to check identification for all customers wishing to purchase a video game rated M for “Mature” or AO for “Adults-Only.” more

PTC Asks Berkshire Hathaway Not to Underwrite Graphic TV Content

 

At the Berkshire Hathaway shareholder meeting in Omaha on Saturday, May 3, the company was pressed on whether its television advertising dollars reflect its corporate values.  Father Val Peter, executive director emeritus of Boys Town, spoke on behalf of the Parents Television Council urging Berkshire Hathaway to reconsider placing GEICO brand advertisements on shows like “Dirt” and “The Sopranos.” more

Children Assaulted by Sex, Violence, Drugs and Explicit Language on BET and MTV
PTC and Enough is Enough Campaign Release New Report Revealing Offensive and Indecent Content on BET/MTV

The Parents Television Council, in partnership with the Enough is Enough Campaign, released shocking new data about BET and MTV daytime music video programming.  As recently as March 2008, children who watched BET’s Rap City and 106 & Park and MTV’s Sucker Free on MTV were bombarded with adult content  - sexual, violent, profane or obscene - once every 38 seconds.

Parents Lodge Indecency Complaints Over Nudity on "Top Model"

 

The Parents Television Council filed an indecency complaint over CW’s "America’s Next Top Model" for showing a nude model and is encouraging its members to file complaints with the FCC.

 

The episode showed a model posing fully nude for photographs while lying on a bed. The nudity was partially blurred. The episode aired on March 26, 2008, during the so-called "Family Hour" at 8 pm ET/7 pm CT. more
