Deck Your Halls with Products from TV’s Best Advertisers

BestandWorst2016 Ahead of the holiday shopping season, the Parents Television Council released its “Best & Worst Advertisers” list, choosing a number of companies that are committed to sponsoring TV shows safe for families to watch. Companies from the auto, cellular, fast food, consumer goods, restaurant, and retail industries are included in this list, and the criteria for inclusion is exclusively based on the TV content that these advertisers underwrite. “We offer congratulations to these ‘best’ companies who help provide a positive media environment for children and families. We know it’s not easy to find TV shows that are free from offensive or harmful content, and the companies on our ‘best’ list are to be commended for putting their ad dollars behind TV shows that are safe for the entire family,” said PTC President Tim Winter. “Advertisers supporting the ‘good’ TV shows can also equate to greater financial success, as research offers confirmation that TV shows with high levels of violent or sexual content don’t help viewers to remember the ads. “We hope that the companies on our ‘worst’ list will come to understand that their sponsorship of TV shows with sex, violence, or profanity will not help generate support – or trust – from families. Those who made the ‘worst’ list sponsored shows with graphically violent content found on ‘Scream Queens,’ ‘Of Kings and Prophets,’ and ‘American Horror Story,’ and sexual content found on ‘The Real O’Neals,’ and ‘Dating Naked.’ “As the holiday shopping season begins, we hope shoppers will use this list to make buying decisions, in order to reward the ‘best’ companies for supporting positive TV shows. There’s no greater way to send a signal than to financially support a company for doing the right thing. We hope shoppers will avoid those on our ‘worst’ list. When shoppers have a variety of options, especially for companies seeking families as customers, they must be responsible corporate citizens in all aspects of their businesses.” PTC’s Best/Worst Advertisers List of 2016 The list is arranged by industry, followed by the best and worst companies in each category:
