Disney's Cinderella wins PTC Seal of Approval

Disney’s new live-action film is a magnificent imagining of the classic fairy tale, alive with quality acting, colorful costumes, and family-friendly content. The PTC recommends this film for viewers over age five. Ella was a beautiful baby, surrounded by love, joy, and belief in magic, a belief her mother encouraged, teaching Ella about fairy godmothers. But Ella’s happy young life is touched with tragedy when her beloved mother takes ill and dies, leaving Ella with words to guide her future: “Have courage, and be kind.” When her wealthy merchant father remarries, Ella strives to follow those words; but the advice proves painful when her father also dies, and Ella’s wicked stepmother and obnoxious step-sisters take over her house – which is where her story really begins…Cinderella is a magnificent imagining of the classic fairy tale. Though live-action, with real (and amazing) acting, in its look, special effects, and sensibility, it matches the best Disney animated films of the past. The costumes in particular are breath-taking and elegant. Children of all ages will be captivated by the tale, which even finds a little time to explore questions of motivation (the prince, his father, his prime minister, and even the wicked stepmother).Cinderella contains no objectionable content. No swear words or foul language are used, and the film contains no violence or sexual content, apart from a chaste kiss between Cinderella and her prince.Filled with luscious visuals, action, comedy, and above all romance, Cinderella deserves to be seen by every family who wants to introduce their children to classic (and classy) fairy tales.
