Don Noblitt The Parents Television Council has welcomed Don Noblitt of Jackson, Mississippi, to its Board of Directors. “We are glad to welcome Don to the Board of Directors. He’s a businessman, entrepreneur, and has been involved with the well-being of Mississippi families and children for decades. Given his extensive background and his concern for the impact entertainment media can have on children, we look forward to working closely with him to advance our mission to protect children from sex, violence, and profanity on TV,” said PTC President Tim Winter. A lifelong resident of Jackson, Mr. Noblitt is the co-owner and partner in charge of the financial and land activities of the Mississippi Oil Company (MOCO, Inc.), which owns oil and gas interests in Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas. “On behalf of the PTC Board, I am glad to extend a warm welcome to Don. He has been a passionate advocate on behalf of children and we are grateful to have his business expertise and acumen contribute to the PTC mission,” said Michele D’Amour, chair of the PTC Board of Directors. “Very few parents want their kids to be able to access and watch graphic sex, violence, and profanity on TV, and I think parents are getting even more tired of this kind of content barraging them in their homes. The PTC’s role in helping to protect kids from this kind of adult content is a crucial one. The PTC is the ‘David’ to the entertainment industry’s ‘Goliath,’ and ‘David’ has been instrumental in a variety of ways through the years, from working with advertisers to ask them to sponsor more family friendly TV programming to making sure that the broadcast indecency law is followed. I look forward to working with the PTC,” said Noblitt, who originally heard of the PTC when Steve Allen and Brent Bozell first founded the group 20 years ago. Noblitt is the past chairman of the Mississippi Food Network, which supplies food to over 300 agencies in 71 counties in the state. He currently serves on the advisory boards of The Salvation Army and The McClean Fletcher Center, which aids and counsels children ages 4-18 that have lost an immediate family member. Noblitt is married to Holley Herrin Noblitt, and they have two children and four grandchildren. Mr. Noblitt's full biography can be found here.
