And tomorrow night, INSP premieres its first original series, Brush of Honor. Narrated by award-winning actor Gary Sinise, Brush of Honor follows artist Phil Taylor is an artist with a unique mission in life: he paints portraits of fallen members of America’s armed forces. “As an artist, this is the best way I know to honor America’s heroes, to celebrate their lives, and to bring them back home to their families,” Phil says. As part of each episode, Phil travels to each fallen hero’s home, to learn as much as he can about a particular service member in order to accurately reflect his or her true spirit. He visits their hometown and meets with family members, friends and comrades in order to gain a clear understanding of what lead these young men and women to serve, and to lay down their life for our country. The episode then culminates in a “reveal” ceremony as the portraits are unveiled for surviving family and service members from the fallen’s old military unit, and the portrait is presented to the fallen hero’s family. As the Inspiration Network’s first original series, Brush of Honor accurately reflects INSP’s mission of providing programs “filled with inspiring stories that honor timeless, traditional values and celebrate the American spirit.” The program contains absolutely no harmful content, being completely devoid of sex or offensive language. On rare occasions, references are made to the violent circumstances under which the service member lost his or her life, but such references are always tasteful. For celebrating the lives of American heroes, and providing educational, inspirational, and family-friendly programming that uplifts the human spirit, the Parents Television Council is proud to award Brush of Honor with the PTC Seal of Approval®.
