PTC Congratulates Charter on Merger, Urges Company to Fight for Consumer Choice

cablechoice1 The Parents Television Council congratulated Charter on its finalized merger with Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks, and urged the company to use this “incredible opportunity to lead in the fight for greater consumer choice.” “Charter now has an incredible opportunity to lead from a position of strength, and we urge the company to lead in the fight for greater consumer choice of programming that subscribers actually want to watch and pay for. More choice over cable TV programming is the ultimate solution for families and other consumers who don’t want to pay for the increasingly explicit – even pornographic – content that’s offered on basic cable and that used to be only found on premium tiers. Charter has been handed an opportunity based directly on its commitment to serve the public interest and we expect that the company will do just that,” said PTC President Tim Winter.
