Last Man Standing

The PTC is urging Fox to replace a failing show with a successful one.The Parents Television Council is recommending that Fox Broadcasting reverse course and cancel “The Mick”; and, in its place, air new episodes of “Last Man Standing,” which ABC recently canceled despite being the second-most-watched comedy on the network. Fox Broadcast’s parent company produces and owns the rights to “Last Man Standing.”

“If Fox were to replace ‘The Mick’ with new episodes of ‘Last Man Standing,’ it would be a win-win-win, and how often can we say that?” said PTC President Tim Winter. “Parents would win because there would be less-explicit content marketed to family audiences at times when children are likely to be watching. Advertisers would win because they’d have a higher-rated and much safer show in terms of content. Many sponsors removed their media dollars from ‘The Mick’ after learning about the program’s explicit content. “And the Fox Broadcast Network’s parent corporation would win, and win big, because of the future treasure trove each new episode of ‘Last Man’ will bring during syndication. Plus they would garner more ad dollars for the network from such a move. “While ‘Last Man Standing’ isn’t a perfect show for family audiences – we’ve given it a Yellow Light Rating in our own rating system because of occasional sexual innuendo and language – it’s a much safer show for families than ‘The Mick’ and, for that matter, much safer than most programs that air on primetime broadcast television. We urge Fox to consider our programming recommendation.”
