The show’s format is a rip-off of ABC’s long-running
America’s Funniest Home Videos – except that “comedian” Daniel Tosh is no Tom Bergeron. While the latter manages to turn people’s bloopers into an opportunity for gentle wit, Tosh is much more about sneering mockery, bigotry, and graphic sex and toilet jokes. Continuing to mock the unfortunate girl, Tosh homophobically snarls, “She’s fine. The gays have less feeling in their vaginas. If she gets back on her pogo stick and does that two more times, she’ll be cured of lesbianism.”
More of Tosh’s prejudiced and disgusting “humor” on the episode included:
- An African-American man bouncing off an airbag and smashing into the ceiling. “You just got Malcolm X’ed!” Tosh hoots. “Did that airbag come out of a Chrysler 300? And you thought I forgot about black history month.”
- A gorilla vomits, then eats its own vomit…shown in loving close-up. The gorilla vomits again (with a huge “2nd PUKE!” graphic imposed on the screen). And again -- with a “3rd PUKE” graphic, natch. “What would make this better was if he was eating it off a girl gorilla’s t**ties,” growls Tosh.
- Tosh then stages a skit in which he vomits up pancake batter onto a griddle, then serves the pancakes to a pair of cute little kids. “After breakfast I killed one of those kids, because they didn’t smell right,” Tosh concludes.
- Footage from Russia shows a naked man climbing out of a van and dancing on top of a car. Tosh: “His d*** looks like it’s wearing one of those Russian fur hats. I don’t think we’re going to have to blur this.” After the man falls off and is assaulted by the car’s owner, Tosh mocks, “Never get in a fight with a naked man. Win or lose, that wiener’s gonna mash up against you. I’m just glad God is sending meteors to destroy that country.”
- Tosh states that viewers may not find the videos he shows funny, “but they only have to be funny to me, and I’ve got a queer sense of humor.” He shows a video of an apparently dead woman lying beside a toilet, as a creepy voice-over sings, “Bulimia, bulimia, don’t binge, don’t purge.”
- After showing courtroom footage of a defendant repeatedly calling the judge a “c**k” and being held in contempt, Tosh remarks, “The executive producer of this show is a lawyer, and all he’s done for the past four days is try to convince Comedy Central to let me say (bleeped c***k). Did it get bleeped? Then he lost.”
- Tosh holds a “web redemption” for the defendant, Brian, supposedly visiting him in prison where he hears about the drug-addict defendant assaulting his own father with a knife. Tosh then asks about the courtroom:
Brian: “The judge was being a d***.”
Tosh: “So you called him a (bleeped c***k).”
Brian: “I said, ‘suck my (bleeped c***k).”
Tosh: “Oh, you said ‘SUCK my (bleeped c***k).”
Brian: “I said ‘suck my (bleeped c***k).’ And then when I went back up, I was like, ‘I’m just gonna throw the word ‘(bleeped c***k)’ in, and the courtroom’s laughing.”
Tosh: “Did you feed off the energy of the courtroom when everyone started to laugh?”
Brian: “Yeah. That’s why I got the second contempt of court. I figured, ‘I’m screwed, might as well get another laugh in.’” Tosh laughs in admiration.
- Then follows a skit with a Andrew “Dice” Clay as a lawyer speaking before a courtroom: “This entire case is about the freedom to say what we need to say when we need to say it. Like [addressing a woman juror] ‘Remind me to pinch your t*ts after the trial…Yer honor, you been around. You’re wearin’ that (bleeped f******) sexy robe, with a little (bleeped f******) red thong underneath, that I could grab with my (bleeped f******) teeth and pull right outta your ass an’ (bleeped c***) lips…To sum up: Hickory dickory dock, my client’s got a right to call that judge a c**k.” The jury cheers -- and the female juror exposes her (blurred) breasts to the room.
It is unsurprising that Tosh uses his TV program to make a hero out of a drug-addicted thug who doesn’t even have the sense to keep his mouth shut while in court. Like Brian, Daniel Tosh thinks that he has a “right” to say anything inappropriate thing he pleases, anywhere, at any time, before any audience, completely without regard to other people’s rights. This is, after all, the same man who
urged his audience to gang-rape a female audience member .
Unfortunately, those who subscribe to cable or satellite TV in order to receive the Disney Channel for their children are not allowed the “right” to choose not to support such programming. Instead, every single subscriber is forced to pay for Tosh’s vile ranting. Only when true Cable Choice is achieved will millions of subscribers have the freedom not to subsidize the
Worst Cable TV Show of the Week.
