LOS ANGELES (May 14, 2025) – The Parents Television and Media Council (PTC) commended the Senate’s reintroduction of the Kids Online Safety Act today.
“When companies like Meta enable a new AI chatbot to have sexually explicit conversations with child accounts, or when TikTok provided a platform for adults to pay teens to strip on its LIVE feature, it is clear that it is past time to hold Big Tech accountable. Congress has a major role in ensuring tech platforms prioritize child safety by reintroducing and passing the Kids Online Safety Act,” Melissa Henson, vice president, Parents Television and Media Council.
The Kids Online Safety Act is designed to hold social media companies and other digital platforms accountable for protecting children online and requires stringent safety and privacy settings to be on by default.
