The CW Should Cancel its Dates with ‘FBoy Island’ and ‘FGirl Island’

LOS ANGELES (March 27, 2023) – The Parents Television and Media Council called on The CW to cancel its plans to add FBoy Island and FGirl Island, reality dating shows featuring adult content, to its lineup.

“The CW, which has been synonymous with teen-targeted content for years, should back out of its plans to add FBoy Island and FGirl Island to its current lineup. To this point, FBoy Island’s home has been on HBO Max, so it’s outrageous that The CW would bring this reality dating show in house where teens are more likely to be watching,” said Melissa Henson, vice president of the Parents Television and Media Council.

“Most reality dating shows are a tawdry, voyeuristic exercise at best; but FBoy Island and FGirl Island are really lowest common-denominator programming. They are particularly inappropriate for a historically teen-targeted network. CW – do better,” she continued.

Even TVLine questioned the show’s move from HBO to The CW: “It remains to be seen, though, how airing on a broadcast network like The CW will affect FBoy Island‘s more adults-only elements.”
