Murdoch Mysteries is a one-hour drama set in Toronto in the late 1890s and early 1900s during the age of invention, where Detective William Murdoch (Yannick Bisson), the methodical detective and his impassioned wife Dr. Julia Ogden (Hélène Joy)enlist radical forensic techniques like fingerprinting and ultraviolet light to solve a range of gruesome murders. Murdoch’s associates include his gruff boss Inspector Thomas Brackenreid (Thomas Craig),Constables George Crabtree (Jonny Harris) and Henry Higgins (Lachlan Murdoch), and eccentric Detective Llewellyn Watts (Daniel Maslany). All are valuable allies helping Murdoch solve cases across the many stratums and evolving manners of Victorian society.

Although a mystery series that sometimes centers around murder investigations, violence is mostly implied, but neither graphic nor gory. Episodes may contain some innuendo, but no overt or explicit sexual content.
