Jill Wagner (star of INSP’s original movie Christmas in the Smokies) hosts this look at independent craftsmen and –women. In every half-hour episode, Wagner travels the country on a quest to find talented men and women who make extraordinary items by hand -- and learns about the history and cultural heritage that inspire and influence each creation. Though they live in different parts of the country and use different materials, and practice different forms – from clock-making to cabinetmaking to blacksmithing and beyond – every artist profiled on Handcrafted America has a passion for art…and an appreciation of the value of time-honored craft, with many using the same processes passed down from the Colonial Era or even earlier. Handcrafted America is an excellent way to introduce children to the value and beauty of working with one’s hands, to create works both functional and beautiful. Because of its educational value and love of art, the Parents Television Council is proud to award Handcrafted America with the PTC Seal of Approval®. The PTC recommends this program for all ages. INSP is available on DISH Network channel 259, DirecTV channel 364, and many cable networks. To learn more about Handcrafted America, click here.
