The Parents Television Council applauded CBS for ensuring explicit language during the Grammys broadcast was muted. “CBS has deservedly earned our public praise for ensuring that last night’s Grammy Awards broadcast was appropriate for family viewing. The Eye Network’s success can be measured by the fact that no one is talking about an ‘f-word’ or other explicit language today; instead the focus is on the awards and live performances, as it should be,” said PTC President Tim Winter. “We understand how difficult it can be to monitor live broadcasts for explicit language, and we commend CBS’ broadcast standards team for their attention to detail and precision. We also extend our gratitude to those artists who chose to substitute some of the more explicit lyrics during their live performances, demonstrating their respect for the audience watching at home.”
