CBS on the Hook for Ensuring Super Bowl is Family-Friendly

LOS ANGELES (February 1, 2021) – The Parents Television Council is calling on CBS to ensure that the Super Bowl broadcast on February 7 is family-friendly.

“While it has always been true that the Super Bowl attracts increased family viewing and should be treated as a family-friendly TV event, with families in quarantine, they are more likely to watch the big game. So it’s even more important for CBS to keep the broadcast free from ‘f-bombs,’ inappropriate commercials, or sexually-suggestive halftime shows,” said PTC President Tim Winter.

“Just as many large companies have decided not to advertise during the game this year, in part because of concerns of how their ads would be perceived, CBS must strike the right tone for the entirety of the broadcast. Families want to enjoy the game without having to frantically reach for the TV remote to mute or change the channel because CBS couldn’t keep it clean. Putting families first is a winning strategy.”
