This sitcom centers on a young couple, their three young children, and the inlaws, who just happen to live nearby and frequently meddle in the lives of their son and daughter-in-law.

The title character, Ray Barone, is a sportswriter who is devoted to his wife and children and loves his pesky parents. However, Ray and Debra frequently discuss their sex life and parents may have reservations about exposing younger children to the couple's frank views on sexual matters. Mild vulgarities such as "crap" and "ass" are frequent.
